APA & TXC Meet with TDLR: Key Requests for Process Improvements

APA leadership and Texas Chapter leadership recently met with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) to discuss ways to improve efficiency and clarity in the Architectural Barriers Program.
Using feedback from our member survey and based on conversations with TDLR, APA submitted a formal request outlining three priority actions:

- Review of New Forms – Allow APA/TXC to review draft forms before rollout to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Ownership Research Up Front – Move ownership verification to the start of the registration process to prevent delays and reduce administrative burdens.
- Clear Guidance on Ownership Verification – Publish a definitive list of acceptable documentation so all parties have consistent expectations.
These requests are aimed at reducing delays, improving communication, and supporting smoother compliance for everyone involved. We’ll keep members updated as discussions with TDLR progress.
