William (Bill) Botten currently works as an accessibility consultant for PlayCore, following his 22-year career at the U.S. Access Board. At the Access Board, he was part of a team that developed the combined guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Architectural Barriers Act and was the lead staff for the development of guidelines and technical assistance materials for the rulemaking on outdoor developed areas.

 

Bill specializes in accessibility issues related to recreation facilities and outdoor developed areas. Additionally, he serves on several committees related to inclusive fitness equipment and play area surfaces for ASTM and chairs the committee on Ground and Floor Surfaces for RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America). He holds a BSE in Exercise Physiology from the University of Kansas.
